Pentax Sensor Shifting

September 16, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Sometimes even the widest angle is not wide enough to capture an entire building. Here is a simple trick of how this can be done, using the Pentax Sensor Shirting capabilities.

Pentax built their cameras with a 5-axis sensor-shift system, which allows moving the sensor in small steps left, right, up, down and angled.

In this photo, I couldn't fit the entire building in the frame, even though I was using a wide angle lens. There was simply no room to walk back and capture the entire building. So I took 4 photos, in each one I moved the sensor to a different direction, creating 4 images and then using a very simple tool in Photoshop, I merges all the photos into a final image.
